Cutting Down our Christmas Tree

On the hunt for the perfect Christmas tree! We definately learned some things from last years experience-- and it all went a lot smoother this time. Before we left, we gave the girls the option of just getting a tree at a "Christmas tree lot" but they wouldn't have it. They love the adventure of cutting down our own tree... and it's no secret that Jeff and I do too. This will be an annual tradition for the Mosnon family.

I guess Kate thought that little snow covered log was too big to step over.

I came up to Ella to see what she was doing and she threw a snow ball at me!!! Little Turkey!
She was pretty proud of herself.
We almost forgot the saw! We were about 5 miles from home and we had to turn around and get it! Wouldn't that be a disappointment to find a tree but have no way to cut it down! I'm sure Jeff would have MacGyver'd a way to get that tree cut!
Jeff cut the tree, but it still wouldn't budge. It turned out that the lower branches were iced over and frozen to the ground.
Maya and Kate looking on as daddy man-handles the tree.
Bringing the tree back to the car, where we will enjoy some hot Cheddar Chicken Chowder, Rolls, and Hot chocolate.

Oh, and these soft peppermint sticks are also a tradition for this specific outing. Last year the girls made just as big of a sticky mess with them!

We arrived at the look-out point just in time to watch the sunset.

  1. What a great family tradition! We pull ours out of a box and plug it in! Shame on us!
