The Riparian Preserve

We picked up Grandma Great and spent the afternoon at the Riparian Preserve in Gilbert. We bird-watched, climbed trees, picnic'd, played at the park and did some hiking around.

The Trees
This place is great for climbing trees! I loved climbing trees when I was a kid. I remember playing in a fort that was in a fig tree.... and snacking on the figs when I got hungry! Great memories! My girls have always liked getting into the trees too.... and we found out today (although we probably could have guessed), that this habbit has been going on for generations!

Aubree crept up to this tree and found a perching spot, where she observed and photographed a group of red-winged blackbirds. Pretty sneaky!

Two little love birds sitting in a tree....

I love this picture because Ella was trying her hardest to pretend to be sleeping, but she just couldn't stop smiling!

Grandma is 83 years old and still can't resist a good climbing tree! I couldn't keep her out of them!

Bird-Watching and Picnic'ing

Maya is always in the air!!! Infact, it is harder to take a picture of her with her feet on the ground than in the air!
Aubree and Kate hanging out with Grandma. Grandma tells them of when she used to spend her days climbing the Cottonwood trees that lined Horne street. She said that the trees were planted close enough together that they could swing from tree to tree.
Notice Kate is not wearing a diaper on those little buns of hers!!!! Way to go Kate with your potty-training!!! Right: Carification Note: That is not a booger under Maya's nose, but a scab.

The Play Ground

Yes this tree was in the playground.
